Dear Tracy,
1) I was not able to read email last week, but it seems no-one has
answered your query.

2) I got cnfused and put the answer to some other query on the FORUM as
an answer to your query. Please ignore that response.

3) The error message is

** Notice **: Rscore: ASReml prefers I x US R structures for
MultiVariate data 6 2

appears misleading since you have 1 dimensional R structures.
It suggests a space problem.

4)
So, what to do.

Its a large data set, are you using as much memory as possible.
What platform, how much memry?

5)
Use -dl (!DEBUG !LOGFILE) and see if we can work ut from the .asl
file exactly where the job is failing.

6) General ideas (which I would do but which will probably not resolve
the problem:
a) Multipy response by 10 (or 100) so variance parameters are increased
by a factor of 100 (or 1000)
b) Fix initial values so initial matrices are positive definite.

7) Try using DIAG instead of US on the terms to see
a) if the job runs
b) get starting values for the extra variance.

8) I am happy to explore the job if you need further help.

Joseph inherited the title 'King of the Jews', being the leading
descendent of King David. However, neither the Romans or King Herod
were about to recognize him as such. After he contracted to marry
Mary, he discovered she was pregnant. He was surprised and
disappointed, and contemplated a quiet divorce; to proceed would
confer his title on her son. But an angel appeared to him in a
dream saying, "Joseph, Son of David, do not be afraid to take to
you Mary, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the
Holy Spirit. She will have a son whom you shall name JESUS, for He
shall save His people from their sins."
When Jesus was born, Herod killed all the babies of Bethlehem under
two years but Joseph saved Jesus, taking Him to Egypt until Herod
died.
Ultimately, the Romans crucified Him with the charge 'Jesus of
Nazareth, the King of the Jews'. But He rose from the dead the
following Saturday night and is now waiting in Heaven for the time
God has set for Him to return and take up His title and throne in
Jerusalem.
