Thanks for the reply. I tried with:
asreml.control(workspace = 2e+08 )
with no positive results: I still get the same error message. Am I using the right syntax to change workspace? If I then run >asreml.control() it states that it is accepting the new value.
Although the pedigree is big, I would assume that asreml-R keeps/extracts only the portion it needs when fitting a subset of only 8,000 individuals. Isn't this the case?
