Dear Friends,
I have just now uploaded the most recent ASREML to the BBSRC server.
There are no significant changes so you need not upgrade your version
unless it is more than 2 months old or you are having some problems.
One IMPORTANT change relates to the fitting of SPLINES. I have
scaled the SPLINE Z matrix as if the average knot interval was 1.
This has the effect of bringing the spline variance component ratio
closer to that for other components. Previously, it was common
to get very small components which were nevertheless quite significant.
Now there should be bigger in magnitude [although not any more significant].
This change will only affect those who wish to form the Z matrix
themselves and use the spline random effects directly. The scaling factor
is (range/(N-1)).
Arthur
