Large scratch file problem

We are getting the error in a large ASREML run of "STOP SCRATCH FILE DATA
STORAGE ERROR".

By default, ASREML is writing a scratch file to /var/tmp on a Sun Solaris
4.2 system.

There is plenty of disk space elsewhere. Can we write scratch file to a new
default location?
