here is an example of the use

data12.asr2 <- asreml(tch~1,random=~str(~Geno + Gleft +

simple version without str() which is still undertest for asreml 3 is

Female + and(Male)

but be careful with levels of male and female ( ie they have to match
exactly for this to make sense as a matrix addition column by column
