Constraints matrix function

Dear ASreml expert and casual user,

I am a new asreml user working on phenotype/ genotype data in asreml-r to estimate variance components. in the model, marker(s) was allocated as random effect term, but these are multi-allelic markers (i.e. marker with more than two allele). possible allele copies per individual is recorded as ( 0,1 0r 2). we want to force all allele variance component of a given marker to equal varriance component, what function code one needs to executed in asreml-r ? For example, I tried > .asr < - asreml (y ~ 1 ,random ~ X1+ X2+.......+Xn ,constraints=T)
where x1, x2, ...xn are allele. But it did run.

Cheers,
Ali
