Dear Felix,
I commend Bruce comments to you.
The explanation of why 'Size' does not show a relationship with the
residuals depends
on the actual relationship of the Size variable to Time and Individual. If
Size is constant acoss time
for an individual (.e. like an initial covariate), then when it is
omitted, 'Ind' will soak up
its variation, hence there will be nothing to see in the plot you have
done. In this case
the variation associated with 'Ind' will be quite different between the
two models.
The other issue is that you are fitting AR correlations across time. These
will accomodate
individual deviations from the common response curve. However, we end up
with quite a complex model
with poisson errors, correlated, random regressions etc and testing the
components cannot
be done precisely.
Grace, mercy and peace to you from God our Saviour Jesus Christ
