Re: variance component restriction

Hi
I have a simple univariate model and want to fix the value of a variance
component (not variance ratio). Any suggestions? I have tried specifying
the variance structures the long way but I can only get ASREML to fix the
ratio.

*** You need to change the job to do the analysis on the Variance scale
(say residual var is about 100)
viz

y ~ fixed_effects !r animal mqtl
1 1 2
0 0 I 100 !S2==1
animal 1
animal 0 AINV 30
mqtl 1
mqtl 0 GIV 10 !GF
