Dear jo and ian
yes this is true
The best reference for the models are found in Jo's thesis and will be
also in our paper which we have submitted to JABES. The names are
unfortunate in terms of being uninformative. The model parameters have
interpretation as well.
If you like Ian Jo or I can email you a version of the paper for your
information and interest

warm regards

Re: spatial trend and competition

Hi Ian!

The SAR structure models just competition at the error level whereas the
SAR2 models both spatial trend and competition.

Subject: spatial trend and competition

Dear asremlers,

This is probably the wrong list for this question but here goes

In asreml3 there is a SAR2 covariance structure which represents
combined spatial trend and competition. There is also an SAR
structure. Does this represent trend with no competition or
competition with no trend (or neither of these)?
